This facility has two regulation eighteen hole courses and a nine hole executive course. The American Course is a shotmaker’s course with water and trees frequently coming into play. There are also many out-of-bounds stakes lining the fairways. This course was redesigned by R. Albert Anderson in 1963 and again by Ron Garl in 1988. The British Course is more open but features plenty of sand bunkers. Water only comes into play twice on this course. In 1940, the longest playoff in PGA Tour history was held on these courses and nearby Sarabay Country Club when the PGA Senior’s Championship needed thirty-six playoff holes before Otto Hackbarth defeated Jock Hutchinson 294-295. The Executive Course can be quite difficult. Your approach shots must be accurate because the greens are very small. Walking is permitted after 1 PM during the peak season. There is a twenty-four hour automated tee time recorder system, (941) 365-4653.
