Golf Course Description

This course is consistently rated as one of the top ten in the nation by all major magazines. The fairways have a thick cut of rough, and loads of sand bunkers. Golfers must cross over the ocean on three occasions, and the ocean comes into play on four other holes. You will find that both sand dunes and sand bunkers have been strategically placed around the greens and on the fairways. The greens are small and undulating. The spectacular ocean vistas make this one of the most scenic courses in the country. Due to the frequent changes in the weather, sometimes hourly, the course rarely plays the same way twice. The signature hole is #16, which was the toughest hole on the PGA Tour a few years back. This hole requires a 200-yard tee shot over the ocean cliffs to the green. The wind changes constantly, so there is no real way to determine which way it’s blowing. The Bing Crosby and The AT&T tournaments were held here annually. “Golf Digest” rated it as the “Best in State” course for 1997-98, and 2nd best for 1995-96. They also ranked it 4th best out of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses” for 1995-96, and 3rd best for 1997-98. The course was also ranked 2nd among “America’s 100 Best Classical Courses” for 1997, 1998 and 1999 by “GOLFWEEK,” and 2nd best out of the “Top 100 Courses in the U.S.” for 1995, 1997 and 1999 by “GOLF Magazine.” Golfers are required to use a caddie if they choose to walk the course. The only exceptions for not walking the course are if you are over seventy years old or have a written medical statement from a doctor. Due to the exclusive nature of this club, guest fees are not available for publication.
