Golf Course Description

This resort, which was named by “GOLF Magazine” to its 1998 list of “Gold Medal Resorts,” features four Jack Nicklaus-designed courses to choose from, including three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations and an eighteen hole course, called the New Course. “Golf Digest” selected the New Course as the 28th “Best in State” course for 1997-98. In addition, “Golf Digest” rated the New Course as the 10th “Best Public Course” in the state for 1996, and 73rd under the 1998 category of “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S.” Nicklaus designed this course in tribute to the historic St. Andrews in Scotland. It is a links-style design that features pot bunkers and double greens loaded with undulation. The South and East courses have more water hazards in play than any of the other courses. “Golf Digest” rated the North/South Course as the 4th “Best Public Course” in the state for 1996, and 55th under the 1992 category of “Top 75 Resort Courses.” All three nine hole courses were traditionally designed and feature small greens. If you are an avid golfer, this is the place to visit. This club hosted the LPGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions from 1994-96. The “Digital Caddy System” is an electronic distance device that has been installed at Grand Cypress. This device provides golfers with exact yardage readings from the cart to the fairways, bunkers, water hazards, and the front, middle and back of the greens. The golf shop was voted one of “America’s 100 Best Golf Shops” by “Golf Shop Operations” magazine. The Grand Cypress Academy of Golf has a permanent teaching facility. They combine innovative computer technology and bio-mechanics with expert instruction. Twilight rates are available during the off-season only. Guest fees are only for members staying at the hotel.
