This course has water coming into play on three holes. The greens are fast, sloped, and have some undulation, and the fairways are narrow. A difficult hole is #6, a 587-yard, par 5, which plays long and narrow with a creek bisecting the fairway and a pair of bunkers guarding the green. This club was the site of the PGA Tour’s Greater Hartford Open during the 1960’s and 1970’s. A PGA qualifying tournament was held here in 1994. Robert J. Ross designed nine new holes and redesigned the originals in 1924, and Geoffrey Cornish and Bill Robinson did some redesigns in 1978, followed by Cornish and Brian Silva with more renovations in 1983.
